Warwick girls on the verge of Section crown: WHS swimmers sweep PM

The Warwick girls swimming team moved within one win of clinching its first Section One championship, knocking off Penn Manor 103-64 at the Lititz recCenter on Tuesday night.

The victory improved the Lady Warriors’ record to 4-0 L-L (7-0 overall), one game ahead of Cedar Crest (3-1 L-L). Warwick hosts the Lady Falcons next Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the Lititz Rec at 7:30 p.m. with an opportunity to wrap up the crown.

Tyler Mandrell and Lauryn Ober each won two individual events, while Emma Schouten picked up two relay victories and an individual gold to power the Warwick girls.

After starting things off with a win in the 200 medley relay (Chen, Schouten, Ella Schnupp, and Katie Oberholtzer), Warwick went on to claim firsts in nine of 11 events.

Mandrell took the 50 free (25.66) and 100 backstroke (1:03.23), while Ober claimed gold in the 200 free (1:59.23) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.88).

Brina Uhlin touched the wall first in the 100 free (57.16), Anna Lance was victorious in the 500 free (5:36.55) and Schouten earned top honors in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:00.46.

Schouten also teamed up with Brynne McNelis, Lauren Sabol and Isa Velez to win the 200 free relay in 1:51.65.

On the boys side, Warwick completed the sweep with a 92-77 win over the Comets, improving to 2-2 L-L (5-2 overall).

Senior Keir Uhlin had a big night with two individual wins in the 500 free (1:00.68) and 200 Individual Medley (2:05.42), in addition to joining Joe Moll, Ryan Hohman and his brother, Cade, on the first-place 400 free relay (3:23.38).

Moll added an individual victory in the 200 free (1:48.73) and competed on the winning 200 free relay (1:32.99) with Oliver Lance, Hohman and Colin Sensenich.

Warwick’s other individual gold came from Sensenich in the 100 fly in 55.29 seconds.
