Warwick field hockey players compete at Futures Championships Harting, Wenger earn elite selections

A group of Warwick field hockey players recently returned from the National Futures Championships in Virginia Beach. Seven Warwick field hockey players were chosen to participate in the Futures National Championships held at USA Field Hockey’s National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. from June 25-30.

The USA Field Hockey Futures Program is the Olympic Developmental division of the United States Field Hockey Association.The top 646 athletes from the program’s more than 5,000 participants were selected to participate in U19, U16 and U14 divisions.

In addition, Emily Harting, who played in the U19 division, was chosen from the Futures National Championships for Junior National Camp, the most elite field hockey camp in the country, which was held in Norfolk Va. from July 12-15.

Elizabeth Wenger, who played in the U16 division, was selected to participate in the AAU Junior Olympic Games, which is being played in New Orleans, La. from Aug. 1-6.
