Despite the rain, more than 1,000 people finished the fourth annual Rock-N-Glow 5K in Manheim on Saturday evening.

The race started at 9 p.m., and a finish list posted online indicates that 1,018 people completed the course.

The overall male and female winners were Colton Sunderland, 17, with a chip time of 16:51; and Danae Peters, 20, at 18:53. Both hail from Manheim, as do the runners who finished the race in second through fifth place: Jordan Shimer, 16:55.9; Ian Lauver, 17:07.9; Jackson Crouse, 17:33.9; and Galen Fitzkee, 18:14.9.

Laurel Latimer and her dog, Lilikoi, ran the 5K together. They came all the way from Makawao, Hawaii, to participate in the race.

The run was the signature event of the Manheim Downtown Development Group, which is dissolving due to financial pressures.

However, program manager Doreen Ober told the press in April that the Manheim Chamber has agreed to continue to sponsor Rock-N-Glow in 2017.
