Oberholtzers married 65 years

Jay and Rhoda Stauffer Oberholtzer are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary in Panama City, Fla.

They were married on May 3, 1952, in a double ceremony with Rhoda’s sister, Ruth Stauffer, and Lloyd Denlinger at the Landis Valley Mennonite Church. Rhoda ‘s maid of honor was her sister, Martha Stauffer, and the best man was Jay’s brother, Clair.

The couple have three sons and daughters-in-law: Donovan and Carol, Gregory and Jeannie, Steven and Sheri; four grandchildren; and four-great grandchildren.

The couple is involved in the family business, Stauffers of Kissel Hill. Jay was a partner and executive of SKH and the Stobro Corporations, served on the boards of Conestoga and Fulton Banks, and on the pastoral team of Lititz Mennonite Church.

Rhoda served as a director of Sovereign Bank. As a floral designer, she developed the floral design classes at the Stauffers of Kissel Hill retail stores. Rhoda also presented a program, “The Parables of the Flowers,” at hundreds of clubs and churches in the United States, Canada, and a few foreign countries, and served on numerous church organization boards.

Rhoda and Jay were trained as spiritual guides. Their hobbies included skiing, motorcycling, and traveling. They reside in Kissel Hill Manor, the previous home of the Stauffer family.
