Martins married 50 years

Clarence and Carla-Donna (Holmgren) Martin, Lititz, celebrated their golden anniversary on June 12.

They were married at the Cherry Valley Methodist Church, Stroudsburg, in 1966. The couple met at the YWCA Lounge dances in Lancaster.

Clarence received degrees from Wesley College, Dover, Del., and West Chester State College. He retired from Contesoga Valley School District, where he taught science in the middle school. He is an Air Force veteran, having served with the Strategic Air Command stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D., and also on Guam

Carla is a graduate of East Stroudsburg State College. She received her Medical Technology MT(ASCP) from Lancaster General Hospital, where she worked in the hospital laboratory until retiring.

With careers over, the couple continue to pursue other interests. Clarence is a 33rd Degree Mason of Rose Croix in Reading, and a member of Manheim Lodge 587. His love of teaching has him filling in with Philhaven Behavioral Healthcare, Mt. Gretna, as needed. Carla is a weekly volunteer with Water Street Mission’s Community Outreach, Lancaster, and Ten Thousand Villages, Ephrata. She enjoys gardening, and caring for her cats and goats.

The couple enjoy being involved in the Lititz Moravian Church, spending time with family and friends, and traveling, especially with each of their grandsons.

They are the proud parents of Daryl (Jodi Shuber) Martin, Ohio; Bethany (Matt) Buckwalter, Lititz; and Joel (Robyn McGrath) Martin, Washington; and grandparents to: Jesse (Tess Coats), Justin and Joshua Buckwalter; and Jack and Drew Martin.
