John Donald and Lois (Sensenig) Ross will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on July 30.

Don and Lois were married July 30, 1952, on the CBS TV show “Bride and Groom” in New York City. They received a honeymoon at Thousand Acres Ranch in the Adirondacks, followed by a multitude of household gifts.

After six months of marriage, and due to the Korean War, Donald was inducted into the Armed Services. With his background in metal engineering, Don served in the Army Engineers at Fort Belvoir, Va. Lois eventually joined him with baby Donna as they lived the Army life in Alexandria, Va.

Donald and Lois are Lititz natives, having served the Lititz community in various ways throughout their marriage. Donald was employed by GATX as a manager in casting design engineering and Lois worked for the Warwick School District.

They are the parents of two daughters: the late Donna, formerly of California; and Victoria, married to Dr. Gregory Garman, of Richmond, Va. They have three grandchildren: Sarah, of New York City; Elizabeth, of Colorado; and Matthew, of Blacksburg, Va.

Don and Lois have taken various cruises, as well as traveling extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Two vacation highlights were a month of biking through southern Germany, and a month of backpacking in the Grand Tetons of Montana.

They have been members of Lititz Grace Church for over 35 years, serving in various capacities, which included a year of mission work in France at the Chateau de St. Albain. They also traveled to three disaster areas in the U.S. to serve the church in clean-up and repair work.

They both extend gratitude and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ for sustaining them throughout their married lives.
