By on May 16, 2012

William "Will" E. Helmick Jr., 49, of Lititz, died unexpectedly from natural causes at home Friday, May 11, 2012.

Born Aug. 7, 1962, he was the son of William E. and Linda (Firestone) Helmick, of Lititz. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley A. Ritter, of Glen Burnie, MD.

He attended J. P. McCaskey High School. Over the years, Will has worked for Whitmoyer Chevrolet, Lancaster Malleable Castings, Simon Ladder, Lancaster Parking Authority and several auto detailing centers, including his own business, Red Rose Detailing.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends and family, all who would agree that Will loved to make others smile with his humor and special stories. Will was a devoted Cowboys fan — how about them Cowboys!

Will is survived by two daughters; Abbey Helmick, of Lebanon; and Shelby Helmick, of Lititz; granddaughter: Tianna Helmick, of Lebanon; two sisters: Diana Lynn Black, of Lancaster; and Sherry, wife of Robert Davis, of Leola; and three brothers: Tony Helmick, husband of Justine (Ritzman), of Centerville; Gregory Helmick, partner to Robin Crouse, of Ephrata; and Elvis Budd Helmick, of Pennsylvania.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He adored his furry friends: Billy, Emmy, Sassy and numerous that have passed including Smokey, Pepsi and Baby.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Joe Rager who Will spoke of frequently. Joe was like a brother/father/mentor/close friend all rolled into one — may we all be blessed with such a friend.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 18 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lititz Springs Park, P.O. Box 110, Lititz, PA 17543. (Specify for William Helmick Jr.) A bench bearing Will’s name will be placed in the park.
