Virginia H. Bowers, 92, McCaskey grad, homemaker, active at St. Stephen’s Lutheran

Virginia H. Bowers, 92, a homemaker of Lititz, died on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital after an illness.

She was the wife of the late Edward W. Bowers, to whom she was married for 61 years. Born Aug. 18, 1926, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Emma H. (Schmidt) Koehler.

She was a long-time active member of the former St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church and recently Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Leola. She was a 1944 graduate of McCaskey High School.

Surviving are three children: Sandra J. Bowers, of Lancaster; Dennis P., married to Pamela Bowers, of Lancaster; and Larry E., married to Koleen Bowers, of Lititz; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and brothers: Lamont Koehler of York, and Arlen Koehler of Lancaster; as well as extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a grandson: Justin, in 2010.

Services were held May 17 at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, Lancaster. Interment was held at Conestoga Memorial Park.
