Vera Mae Strickler, 82, worked at Noggles, enjoyed flea markets, collected music boxes

Vera Mae (Waltz) Strickler, 82, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Ephrata Manor.

Born in Rapho Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry H. and Gertrude (Zink) Waltz. Vera was the loving wife of Neil Strickler with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Neil passed away 25 days after Vera.

Vera was a member of Bergstrasse Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ephrata, where she was a Sunday school teacher, served on the altar board and was a greeter.

She had worked for RCA Lancaster, Noggles Garment Factory in Manheim, and Dutch Maid and Hestco in Ephrata. She loved to go to flea markets, play cards, read and collect music boxes.

She is survived by two sons: Scott Lee, husband of Marty (Lindberg) Strickler of Lakeland, Fla.; John Allen, husband of Vicki Strickler of Ephrata; a daughter: Sandra Lynne, wife of Stanley Krotowski of Silverdale; five grandchildren; two step-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; three brothers: Clifford Glenn, husband of Carol Waltz of Columbia; Luke Melford Waltz of Mount Joy; Larry, husband of Susan Waltz of Columbia; two sisters: Ethel Marie, wife of the late Albert Acosta of Lancaster; and Shirley Lucille Waller of Columbia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Henry Jr., Ralph, and Richard Waltz; and three sisters: Betty Hoke, Vivian Brodhecker and Velma Lauver.

Services were held Dec. 28 at Bergstasse Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ephrata, with Rev. Herb Lohr officiating. Interment was in the Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.
