Venice Dontis, 85, Kandy Korner Luncheonette worker, active at Annunciation Greek Orthodox

Venice Dontis, 85, of Lititz, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, at Moravian Manor.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Dontis.

Venice worked as a bookkeeper for W.H. Johns Trucking Co.; and also worked at her parents’ business, the former Kandy Korner Luncheonette on Duke Street in Lancaster. She was the first generation of her family to be born in the United States; and was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where she was active with the church bazaar. She was a choir member for 60 years; a member of the parish council; served on the outreach committee; and was a lifelong member of the Philoptochos Society, having served as treasurer for 20 years.

Venice is survived by her friend of 33 years: Phyllis Wells, and her fiancé, Harry Bowie of Easton, Md.; and a godson: Phillip Pavlatos of Las Vegas, Nev. She was the last of her immediate family.

Services were held July 22 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Lancaster, with Fr. Hector Firoglanis officiating. Interment followed in Lancaster Cemetery.
