Vada Rodgers Coffroth, 86, RCA retiree, enjoyed shopping, spending time with family, Phils fan

Vada Rodgers Coffroth, 86, of Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, formerly of Leola, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Pleasant View, surrounded by her family and nursing staff.

The youngest of nine children, Vada was born in beautiful Elkton, Va., to the late Howard and Bertha Dofflemyer Rodgers. She was the wife of the late Ralph D. (Pete) Coffroth Jr., with whom she shared 61 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2013.

Vada was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Brownstown. She was employed by and retired from the former RCA in 1984. Vada especially loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed shopping, reading, flowers, watching the Philadelphia Phillies, and lunches with her son-in-law and best buddy, Chet.

She is survived by a son: Steven C. Coffroth of Leola; a daughter: Cynthia C., wife of Chester Bushong, of Lancaster; two grandchildren: Christina Dixon and Jeremy Mozeliak; a great-granddaughter; and four great-grandsons.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Howard, Curtis, Raymond, Charles, and James Winifred Rodgers; three sisters: Ethel Shifflett Harpine, Della Pauline Hawkins, and Eula Gordon; and a grandson: Chase Patrick Bushong.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pleasant View Retirement Community; especially those of Rainbow Terrace, for the wonderful care, love and friendship they provided to Vada over the past four years.

There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim, with Chaplain Ginny Hartman officiating. A viewing and visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the memorial service, at 9 a.m., in the Hoffer Auditorium. A private interment will take place in the Brownstown Cemetery at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, following the memorial service, with Pastor Larry Kipp officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made, in Vada’s memory, to a charity of the donor’s choice.
