Suzanne Shaub Feldman, Granddaughter of Shaub’s, avid collector and advisor of contemporary art

Suzanne Shaub Feldman, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Friday, April 1, 2016, in Manhattan, N.Y., surrounded by her husband Howard and her two children, Jess Wade and Allison Page.

She was a loving wife of 49 years, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a great friend to all.

She is survived by a brother: Robert F. Shaub, (owner and operator of Shaub’s in Lititz), husband of Debra, of Lancaster; a sister: Sally A. (Shaub) Follansbee, wife of Nathan, of Farmington, Conn.; and nieces and nephews.

She was a granddaughter to Benjamin Shaub, founder of Shaub’s in Lancaster a 127-year-old business. In 1759 Suzanne’s family originally settled in Strasburg under the Penn Charter. Suzanne’s second home was in Lancaster. She was a member of the Hamilton Club as well as a third-generation member of the Lancaster Country Club. She was a graduate of Stephens College.

Suzanne was an avid collector and advisor of contemporary art. She was a beloved friend to the art community in New York, Paris, Basel, and London. She amazed everyone with her kindness and caring giving nature. Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Adelaide, on whom she doted and to whom she was devoted.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, at St. Ignatius Loyola, 980 Park Ave. at 84th Street, New York, N.Y. A private cremation will follow. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Frank E. Campbell “The Funeral Chapel,” 1076 Madison Ave., New York City.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
