Shirley L. Ocker, 85, formerly of Ephrata, worked at EHS cafeteria, enjoyed camping, fishing

Shirley L. Ocker, 85, a resident of Luther Acres and formerly of Akron and Ephrata, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital.

Her husband, the late John A. Ocker, passed away Sept. 29, 2012. Shirley was born in Lincoln, daughter of the late Lester S. and Gertrude (Peiffer) Phillips.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ephrata and was retired from the former Ephrata Shoe Co. and Ephrata High School cafeteria. Shirley was a member of Cocalico Post 3376 VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling.

Surviving are two sons: Dennis L. Ocker, husband of Rebecca, of Lititz; and Jerome R. Ocker, husband of Laura, of King of Prussia; five grandchildren: Adam, Kathleen, Caleb, Daniel, and Zachary; one great-granddaughter: Autumn; one sister: Charmagne, wife of Lamont Koehler of York, and a brother: Gerald O. Phillips, husband of Joanne, of Reamstown.

In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters: Fay D. Reddig and Justine Geyer; and one brother: Reed Phillips.

Friends will be received at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 167 E. Main St., Ephrata, from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Henry E. Herbener officiating. Place of interment will be Memory Gardens, E. Cocalico Township.
