Born in Reading, she was the daughter of Earl A. Jr. and Margaret Diener Popp of Lancaster. Sharon was the loving wife of Michael P. Metzler, and they observed their 32nd wedding anniversary in September of last year.

She had a strong belief in a loving God and attended St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neffsville; and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim. Sharon worked as a dental hygienist for many years, most recently at Smoketown Family Dentistry.

A 1980 graduate of Manheim Township High School, Sharon also received an associate degree in dental hygiene from Temple University. During her time at Manheim Township High School, Sharon played the flute and was a drum major during her senior year at the school. A certified aerobics instructor, Sharon was involved in spin and aerobics class at Gymtique, and Iron Fit. She had a passion for all types of music, especially classic rock music, going to concerts to hear her favorite groups: Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and the Eagles.

Sharon’s interests included gardening, scrapbooking, home decorating, crafts, taking walks, adventuring in the outdoors, spending time at the beach at Stone Harbor, New Jersey, pampering her dogs, cooking, baking, taking photos, and rooting for her favorite sports teams: the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, and her beloved Temple Owls. She loved most of all being the mother of twin girls. Sharon was deeply devoted to her family and cherished the time she could spend with her husband, children, and extended family.

Surviving in addition to her parents, and husband, are twin girls: Kelsey Metzler and Kirstin Metzler, all of Manheim, a sister: Suzanne M. Sheidy of Reading; three nieces: Amanda, Brittney, and Courtney; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
