Sharon Jane Howard, 66, softball league organizer, coached Warwick Midget Cheerleading

Sharon Jane Howard, 66, of Lititz, passed away May 9, 2016 at the Heart of Lancaster Medical Center.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Betty (Garner) Harmes. Sharon was the wife of the late David Howard. Sharon and David would have celebrated 45 years of marriage on May 22.

She was a graduate of McCaskey High School. Sharon, along with her husband, organized softball leagues for more than 28 years. They were the founders of the Pennsylvania Shooting Stars Junior Olympic Fast Pitch League. She was a board member and a past president of Lanco League and the Warwick Youth Softball Association. Sharon coached Warwick Midget Cheerleading. Sharon and David were avid Penn State fans. She enjoyed bowling, and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Sharon Howard often referred to as “Short Stop” or “Little Woman,” had a huge heart, and will be remembered for her generosity, selflessness, and willingness to help others.

Surviving is a son: Chad Howard, husband of Amanda; a daughter: Danielle Howard, companion of Chad Kramer; two grandchildren: August Mason and Jonah Shewbridge; and three brothers: Gene, James, and Steve Harmes.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to celebrate Sharon’s life at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz. Friends will be received one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Warwick Youth Girls Softball Association, checks payable to WYGSA, 137 Chestnut St., Lititz, PA 17543.
