Ruth S. Wetzel, 99, Lancaster County Courthouse clerk, outgoing, with a zest for life

Ruth S. (Strohm) Wetzel, 99, of Lititz passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday, March 3, 2019

She was born in Lititz to the late Emma (Stauffer) and Solomon L. Strohm. Ruth shared 42 wonderful years of marriage to the late Charles J. Wetzel, who passed in 1982.

After graduating from Rothsville High School in 1937, she worked as an administrative clerk for the Lancaster County Courthouse until her retirement.

Ruth loved to spend time with her family and also enjoyed taking care of her cats and her daily glass of Thunderbird. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality and zest for life.

Ruth is survived by her children: Chrystine (Timothy) McNamara of Wantagh, N.Y.; and Michael (Karen) Wetzel of Lititz; two grandchildren: Dr. William (Megan) McNamara of Texas, and Kimberly (Denis) Mangan of New York; and three great-grandchildren: Fiona, Lorna, and Liam.

She was preceded in death by her sister: Arlene Martin.

A Memorial Service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz. Friends and family will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private.
