Ruth E. Coughlin, 87, Lititz, registered nurse, enjoyed spending time with friends and family

Ruth E. Coughlin, 87, formerly of Mineola, Long Island, passed away Dec. 1, 2014 at Moravian Manor.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Ella Lake Liesenberg and wife of the late Walter J. Coughlin.

A member of St. James Catholic Church in Lititz, Ruth enjoyed her lifetime of service as a registered nurse. Ruth was a kind and caring mother, whose home was a gathering place for her family and their friends. She willingly opened her home to those who needed a place to stay and was always thankful for visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She liked to play cards, read, and visit with her friends.

She is survived by her daughter: Kathleen, wife of Thomas Scanlon, Lititz; sons: John Coughlin, Fla.; Kevin Coughlin, N.Y.; grandchildren: Kelly and Kristin; Isaiah, Mary, Michael, Benjamin, Christine, James and Matthew; and 10 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sister: Eloise.

Her service was held Dec. 6 at St. James Catholic Church, Lititz, with Reverend James O’Blaney C.Ss. R. officiating. Interment will be in Witness Park at the convenience of the family.
