Ronald P. Tomey, 83, USMC vet, Mason, worked in car sales and at NCR, gifted woodworker

Ronald “Ron” P. Tomey, 83, of Lititz, entered heaven on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Ron was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Jan. 8, 1935, to the late Wallace and Bernice (Hruska) Tomey.

Ron was a 1953 graduate of Wilson High School, West Lawn. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years, was employed by NCR Reading, New York, and Lancaster, for 13 years. He was them employed by several car warranty companies and spent many years in car sales. He was past president of Spring Township American Business Club (Berks County); a former member of Baron Stiegel Lions Club, Brickerville; a 50-year member of St. John’s Lodge #435 Free and Accepted Masons, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite member, Reading.

Ron was a talented woodcarver, belonging to the Lancaster County Woodcarvers Club for over 20 years. He also attended Grace Church, Lititz.

He was married to Kathalene “Kathy” Williams Tomey for 57 years on Nov. 11.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Bruce Tomey, husband of Tracy (Frisoli) Tomey, West Chester; and Keith A. Tomey, husband of Maureen (Brennan) Tomey, Landenberg; two granddaughters: Paige and Miranda Tomey.

He was predeceased by a brother: James W. Tomey, husband of Janet (Erdle) Tomey.

In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s honor to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, Benevolent Fund, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17402.

Interment will be private and held at Fort Indiantown Gap, with military honors, at a future date.

The Cremation Society of Pennsylvania is in charge of arrangements.
