Robert R. ‘Bob’ Brayman, 60, taught sixth grade in the Manheim School District, avid scrapbooker

Robert R. “Bob” Brayman, 60, of Manheim, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Columbia to the late Oscar and Geraldine (Kibler) Brayman, and was the husband of Rose (Lane) Brayman, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.

Bob had been a member of the Congregational Bible Church of Marietta, and had also attended the Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim. He was a 1973 graduate of Donegal High School and earned his degree in elementary education at Millersville University. Bob retired in 2013 from Manheim Central School District after 35 years of teaching sixth grade. Bob served on the negotiations team for the Manheim Central Education Association.

He was known by family and friends at school for his mind flexor puzzles at the Christmas holidays. He was very witty and good with the written word. He enjoyed the Phillies, playing tennis, reading and gardening. Bob was creative at making photo albums and scrapbooks for family and friends. He was a lover of fine wines and cooking gourmet meals for others.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother-in-law: Mary Lane of Manheim; a sister-in-law: Jennifer, wife of Dennis Warfel, of Holtwood; two brothers-in-law: J. Daniel, husband of Charlene (Skomra) Lane, of Lorton, Va.; Thomas, husband of Martha (Bare) Lane, of Kennett Square; three nephews, seven nieces, and various cousins.

Services were held June 14 at Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim, with Pastor Marcia Lincoln-Heinz officiating. Bob was one of the first teachers at Manheim Central to not wear a tie. He requested all guests to attend his funeral in jeans and sandals. Interment was private.

Memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 131 S. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603, in honor of his past students.
