Robert ‘Bob’ R. Leese, WWII vet, Raymark retiree, enjoyed fishing, hunting in Potter County

Robert “Bob” R. Leese, of Manheim, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at Pleasant View Retirement Community.

Bob was married to the late Mary Helen (Lutz) Leese for 59 years. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Elmer M. and Laura (Fink) Leese.

Bob proudly served our country when he enlisted in 1941 in the United States Army Air Corps. Bob was of the greatest generation, serving as a turret gunner in the South Pacific serving on a B24 crew. He flew a total of 53 missions in the South Pacific Theater and was discharged in 1945.

Bob retired from Raymark in 1981. In addition to Bob’s service and career, he was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt, and especially enjoyed going to the Potter County hunting camp for over 50 years.

Bob is survived by two brother:, Claude Leese and Elmer Leese Jr. Two nieces and a nephew were Bob’s main caregivers: Judy Hackman, wife of Tim; Jean Warner, wife of Frank; and Robert Landis Jr., husband of Joyce; and his longtime neighbors: Marie and Jeff Barto. Seven additional loving nieces and nephews are: Bruce, Roger, Kevin, Brian, Daniel, Dennis, and Denise.

In addition to his loving wife, Helen, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul Leese, and Jack Leese; and a sister: Dorothy Ann (Leese) Landis.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bob may be made to the Pleasant View Retirement Community Benevolent Care Fund, by visiting, or at 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545.
