Reuben Z. Gress, 90, WWII vet, Gress & Weitzel Builders owner, outdoorsman, golfer

Reuben Z. Gress, 90, of Lititz, formerly of Denver, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at United Zion Retirement Community.

He was born in Reinholds to the late Evan and Minnie (Zimmerman) Gress, and was the husband of the late Helen M. (Keenan) Gress, who died in 2005.

Reuben was a member of the Berean Bible Church in Ephrata, and the Denver Lions Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, trapping, baseball, and golf. He also enjoyed playing board games.

Reuben was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a builder and owned the company, Gress & Weitzel Builders. After retirement, he was a Denver building inspector.

Reuben is survived by three children: Dean L. Gress of Denver; Diane C., wife of Larry Dull of Lititz; and Tamara J. Gress of Story, Wyo.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother: Michael Z. Gress, husband of Dee.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son: Kevin L. Gress.

Services were held Feb. 23 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Kelly Sensenig officiating. Interment took place in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
