Raymond W. Wenger95, WWII Navy veteran, greenhouse owner

Raymond W. Wenger, 95, of Luther Acres, Lititz, died at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center Saturday, May 12, 2012. He was the husband of Jennie (Harner) Wenger for over 73 years.

Born in Soudersburg, Raymond was the son of the late C. Roy and Mabel E. (Wiker) Wenger.

He graduated from East Lampeter Township High School and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Raymond and Jennie operated Wenger’s Greenhouses, located at the Strasburg Pike and Lincoln Highway East, from 1946 until retiring in 1972.

In addition to Jennie, he is survived by two sons: Thomas, husband of Marian Wenger, of Willow Street; and R. Neill, husband of Jane Wenger, of Lititz; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by a daughter: Kathy; and two brothers: Jay W. and Donald W. Wenger.

Services and burial in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery will be private.
