R. Merle Breneman, 92, cattle dealing was his life and passion, Elizabethtown COB member

R. Merle Breneman, 92, of Mount Joy, passed away on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Pleasant View Retirement Community.

Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late J. Roy and Nora (Greiner) Breneman. Merle was the husband of the late Nancy (Bechtel) Breneman, to whom he was married for 66 years.

Merle was a self-employed cattle dealer. Cattle dealing was his life and passion. Merle was a member of Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren.

Merle is survived by two children: Patricia Warfel, wife of Randy of Manheim; and James Breneman, partner of Joe Wallace of California; two grandchildren: Keith Warfel, husband of Stacy; and Ryan Warfel, husband of Stephanie; three great-grandchildren: Xander, Maxx, and Spencer Warfel; and four sisters: Arlene Nissley of Pleasant View; Marian Mosemann, wife of Don of Pleasant View; Jeanette Ebersole of Mount Joy; and Janice Shenenberger, wife of Ken of Manheim.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Betty Hess.

A funeral service honoring Merle’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 E. Main St., Mount Joy, on Friday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Landisville Mennonite Cemetery.
