Pearl H. Giangreco, 96, homemaker, Faith UMC member, enjoyed cooking, wonderful caregiver

Pearl H. (Ulmer) Myers Giangreco, 96, a homemaker formerly of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at Moravian Manor, Lititz, following a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late Louis “Lou” S. Giangreco, who died in 2007. Her first husband, the late Donald “Bud” R. Myers Sr., died in 1979.

Born Jan. 7, 1920, in Philadelphia and raised in Lancaster City, she was the daughter of the late Kathryn M. (Johnson) Ulmer and was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, Lancaster. Pearl’s life revolved around her family. She enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends. She loved shared time with family. Pearl was an 18-year survivor of ovarian cancer. She was a wonderful caregiver to her sister and mother, who both lived more than 100 years.

She will be lovingly missed by her three children: Judy M., married to James E. Sandstrom, of Lititz; Jeanne L., married to Robert Richart, of Severna Park, Md.; and Donald R. Myers married to Doris J. (Weber) Myers, of Ephrata; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her childhood friend from grade school; Dorothy, with whom she maintained daily contact.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Janet M. Myers (1942); a grandson; Donald R. Myers III (2006); and four siblings: Allen, Lester, and Paul Ulmer; and Nellie Suydam.

Pearl will be forever remembered for her brilliant smile and sweet sense of humor.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff and compassionate caregivers at Moravian Manor. A thank you to her physician, Dr. Robert G. Shultz, who gave Pearl many years of special care.

Services were held Aug. 16 at Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, Millersville. Interment followed in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Millersville.
