Paul Robert Rettew, 84, Army vet, worked at Raybestos, Lititz UMC member, known for his wit

Paul Robert Rettew, 84, passed peacefully on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Southeastern Veterans Center (SVC), Spring City. Robert previously resided in Lititz.

Born in Lancaster, Bob was the son of the late Charles and Anna (Young) Rettew.

Bob is survived by his wife: Lois (Ebersole), Spring City; and two sisters: Ruth Mercado and Donna Peters, both of Lancaster.

He was preceded in death by son: Donald, in April 2017; two brothers: Eugene, Manheim; and Charles, Lancaster; and a sister: Joanne Shaffer, Watsontown.

Also surviving are sisters-in-law: Elizabeth (Ebersole) Rutt, Elizabethtown; Mildred (Ebersole) Gehman, Manheim; Martha Ebersole, Mount Joy; and Jeanette (Breneman) Ebersole, Mount Joy.

Bob served in the U.S. Army in England 1953-55. After returning from the service, Bob began his career work at Raybestos in Manheim. Bob’s wit was enjoyed by friends and family, particularly his many nieces and nephews. He was a member at Lititz United Methodist Church.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in the multipurpose room at Southeastern Veterans Center, Spring City, on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3:30 p.m. Friends are welcome.

Memorial contributions can be made to SVC Resident Welfare Fund, or to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The family would also like to express appreciation to the staff at SVC and Compassus Hospice Services for their care.
