Paul E. Obetz, 82, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday morning, July 3, 2016, at Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Paul M. and Alta M. Vogel Obetz. He and his wife, Doris George Obetz, celebrated their 60th anniversary March 18.

Paul was a charter member of Grace Community Church of Willow Street. In addition to being a 1951 graduate of Manheim High School, he earned a bachelor of science degree from the former Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science (now University of the Sciences in Philadelphia) in 1955. He was employed for more than 13 years as a pharmacist by Conestoga View in Lancaster, and as chief pharmacist by Longenecker’s Pharmacy in Gap for 10 years. Paul also assisted many other pharmacies in the area during his professional career. In addition to stamp collecting, playing bridge and chess, he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Celtics fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Cynthia L., wife of Robert Flynn, of Spring City; Donna S., wife of Robert Daneker Jr., of Allentown; and Diane L., wife of David Adams, of Lancaster; five grandchildren: Erin L., wife of Daniel Martin; Robert P. Daneker; Scott I. Daneker; Rachel Adams; and Derek Adams; a great-granddaughter: Macie Martin; and a sister: Arlene A. Wolfgang of Scottsdale, Ariz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: S. Kenneth Obetz, James E. Obetz, and Richard Obetz.

A memorial service will be held Monday morning, July 25, at 11 a.m., at Grace Community Church of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, PA 17584 with the Rev. Michael Sigman officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive guests at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Please omit flowers. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to the building fund of Grace Community Church of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, PA 17584; or to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
