Orlena F. Brubaker, 92, farm wife, active at Middle Creek COB, married 75 years, enjoyed baking

Orlena F. Stauffer Brubaker, 92, of Lititz, passed away Sept. 22, 2017, at Luther Acres, Lititz.

She was born in Rapho Township, a daughter of the late Jacob Y. and Margie Frey Stauffer. Orlena was the wife of the late John Henry Brubaker, who passed away in June 2017, and with whom she celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Feb. 14.

Orlena had various jobs including nurse’s aide, school cook, school bus driver and worked on the home farm. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking, quilting and horticulture. She was an active member of Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, Lititz, where she was a children’s Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.

Orlena is survived by her children: Orlena S., wife of John Felpel, of Lititz; John W., husband of Jeanne Wert Witmer Brubaker, of Mount Joy; Dr. Paul E., husband of Sandra Hollinger Brubaker, of Manheim; Elaine S., wife of Glenn Noecker, of Bernville; Sharon S., wife of Andrew Auker, of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Shirley G. Miller Brubaker; great-granddaughter: Julie A. Shenk; brothers: Orville, Ellwood, and Jacob Stauffer; and sisters: Eva Stauffer, Mabel Hoffer, Almeta Garber, Maria Stauffer, and Fern Stauffer. Orlena was the last surviving member of her family.

A memorial service will be held from Middle Creek Church of the Brethren on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. The family will receive guests from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
