Nancy Anne Hornberger, 83, chief nurse anesthetist at Lebanon VA Medical Center, judo black belt

Nancy Anne Hornberger, 83, formerly of Manheim, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Manor Care, Elizabethtown.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late W. John and Anna Kreider Moyer. She was the loving wife of the late William F. “Bill” Hornberger Jr., who died in 2005.
Retired in 1995, Nancy was chief nurse anesthetist at the Lebanon VA Medical Center for 25 years. In her earlier years, Nancy worked for the late Dr. John Albert, and she was a registered nurse and director of nursing at the former Lebanon Valley General Hospital.
She graduated in 1950 from the former Lebanon High School, from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1953, and from the Reading Hospital School of Anesthesia in 1954. Nancy attended Mount Gretna United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Elstonville Sportsmen Association, Manheim; and Lititz Springs Chapter No. 499 Order of Eastern Star. Nancy enjoyed taking judo lessons and she proudly received her black belt following her hard work and dedication. She was a member of the U.S. Judo Association. Her interests included crocheting, crafts and traveling.
Surviving are four children: Jeffrey J., husband of Marilyn Hornberger, of Elizabethtown; W. John, husband of Merri Hornberger, of Virginia; Michael Hornberger of Lititz; and Deborah A. Hornberger of Arizona; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 25 at Buch Funeral Home, Manheim. She was interred in Mount Hope Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township.
