Mitzie Wunderley Cavalcante, 84, was medical technician for Dr. Cassel, enjoyed reading, sewing, and travel

Mitzie Wunderley Cavalcante, 84, of Valley Road, Lancaster, died peacefully at Lancaster General Hospital Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014.

Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Dutch and Margaret LaRue Kier Wunderley.

She graduated from McKeesport High School and attended Radford University. Mitzie was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church and most recently worked as an executive for Availability, a temporary placement agency. At one time, she worked as a medical technician in Pittsburgh and for Dr. Cassel in Lititz, as well as a real estate agent for the former Kepner Real Estate Agency. She was the former president of the Lancaster Optimist Club and was active with the Salvation Army. She was fun loving and enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, playing cards, traveling, and being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children: Debra A., wife of Jerry McDonald, Lititz; Jen, wife of Luray Weachter, Neffsville; Jeff, husband of Nancy Cavalcante, Louisville, Ky.; Anthony Cavalcante, III husband of Sally Bass, Atlanta, Ga.; and Cari Jo, spouse of Stephanie Dutton, Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister.

Private services will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Optimist International in Lancaster, 579 Zook Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17602
