Mildred Dohner, 91, farmer’s wife, Masonic Village retiree, respected seamstress, enjoyed puzzles

Mildred Dohner, 91, of United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz, went home to be with her Lord on July 10, 2016, with her family by her side.

Mildred was born Oct. 19, 1924. David M. Dohner, her husband of 63 years, died Aug. 17, 2008. Born in Elizabethtown, Mildred was the daughter of the late Lydia and Charles Nauss.

She was an Elizabethtown resident where she and David were dairy and tobacco farmers for 24 years and retired from Masonic Village in 1988. Mildred was a respected seamstress and enjoyed cross stitching, puzzles, and coloring. Mildred faithfully attended Mount Pleasant Brethren in Christ Church, where she and David worshipped and volunteered to care for others through LOVE, INC.

Mildred is survived by five children: Shirley Fantom, married to Jacob of Peach Bottom; Ruth Dohner of Columbus, Ohio; Linda Ziegler of East Petersburg; Dorothy Heilman, married to Robin of North Carolina; and David Dohner, married to Mim of Mount Joy; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mildred is preceded in death by four brothers: George, Harvey, Clyde, and Earnest; and three sisters: Clara, Mabel, and Anna Mary.

Mildred will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and church family.

Services were held July 14 at Mount Pleasant Brethren in Christ Church, Mount Joy, with Chaplain Ethan Levengood officiating. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.
