Mary R. Kurtz, 89, gracious host and gifted cook, volunteer, Middle Creek COB member

Mary R. Kurtz, 89, of Lititz, went home to be with her Lord on Aug. 18, 2018 at Landis Homes after a lengthy illness.

Born on April 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Glick, and loving wife of Paul H. Kurtz for more than 69 years.

Mary lived a life of service to her Lord, family, friends and community. She was a member of Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, serving as a Sunday school teacher and volunteering on various committees. A gracious hostess and accomplished cook, she enjoyed preparing meals and sharing them with family and friends. Holidays were special times as family gathered to enjoy her delicious meals and especially her pies. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will remain a lasting influence on her family.

Mary volunteered at Brethren Village and Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a member of the Warwick Township Lioness Club, Farm Women Society #1, and served as a Republican Committee Woman.

In addition to her husband: Paul; she is survived by two daughters: Carol, wife of Randal Kline of Stevens; Deborah, wife of Ken Weaver of Lititz; five grandchildren: Kurt (Andrea) Kline, Jason (Kim) Kline, Marcus (Joan) Kline, Shane (Rachel) Weaver and Shanelle (Kris) Lee; 14 great-grandchildren: Whitney (Brandon) Miller, Kameron (Alexis) Kline, Caleb, Jeffrey, Reese, Cassidy, Reagan, Mallory, Bridget and Shelby Kline, Norah and Jack Weaver, Harper and Jacob Lee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson: Justin Weaver.

A memorial service to honor Mary’s life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m., at Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, 351 Middle Creek Road, Lititz, with a time of visitation from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Middle Creek Cemetery.
