Mary Kathryn Trees, 74, Lancaster, worked for LancasterMennonite Conference, watercolorist

Mary Kathryn Trees, 74, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

She was born in Manheim Township to the late Noah O. and Katie K. (Newcomer) Landis and was the wife of Richard J. Trees with whom she shared 42 years of marriage.

Mary was a member of the Landis Valley Mennonite Church and also attended Mellinger Mennonite Church. She was active as a Sunday school teacher, worship planning and visuals and served as the cemetery secretary. She had been employed at the former Penn Dairies, Mennonite Health Services, and Lancaster Mennonite Conference for 44 years doing office administrative jobs. She enjoyed watercolor art, floral and vegetable gardening.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother: Elvin N., husband of Dorothy Landis of Lititz; two sisters: Esther N., wife of Harold Landis of Conn.; Anne, wife of Bruce Hummel of Ohio; and 11 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Nov. 29 at Mellinger Mennonite Church, Lancaster.
