Mary J. (Chymczuk) Hull, 95, active at OMPH, master baker, avid quilter, walked every day

Mary J. (Chymczuk) Hull, 95, of Dushore, formerly of Reading, Ephrata, and Lititz, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, after a brief illness.

Mary was born in Evansville, a daughter of the late John and Anelia ‘Nellie’ (Evancho) Chymczuk. She attended Reading High School and married Lloyd Allen Hull of Illinois in 1945. Lloyd predeceased her on Jan. 3, 1996 after 50 years of marriage.

She and Lloyd resided in Ephrata. Mary was very active in her church and helped with bazaars. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She provided her entire family with many quilts and afghans. She enjoyed bird watching, and was a great walker, walking a mile a day until she was 90. She was also a master baker, and her recipes are treasured by her family. Mary was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, in Ephrata.

Surviving Mary are one son and two daughters: John Hull, husband of Louise (Smith), of Leola; Maryann, wife of Terry Ansell, of New Windsor, Md.; Suzanne, wife of Eugene Bradley, of Dushore. Also, surviving are six grandchildren: Erick Hull, Aimeè Hall-Malonske, Brandon Gantert, John Lloyd Hull, Nicholas Hull, Jessica (Cory) Weidman; four great-grandchildren: Colby Gantert, Brooke Gantert, Celina Hull, Isabella Jones; and two nieces and three nephews.

Preceding her in death were her son: Richard Hull; brothers: John, Harry, and Peter Chymczuk; and sisters: Helen Billinger and Anna Michewicz.

Gravenor Home for Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, invites relatives and friends for visitation and prayer on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be additional viewing time from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20. Following the visitation on Thursday, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Mother of Perpetual Help, 320 N. Church Ave., Ephrata, at 11 a.m. Final commendation and farewell at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, will take place following the mass.
