Martha Louise Callihan, 87, EHS grad, nurse at Ephrata Community Hospital, enjoyed playing cards

Martha Louise (Garrett) Callihan, 87, of Manheim, formerly of Ephrata, passed into her glory on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

Martha was born in Waynesboro, to the late Dr. D. Raymond Garrett and the late Cleopha (Peiffer) Garrett, on Aug. 10, 1929.

She was a 1947 graduate of Ephrata High School. Martha was married on Sept. 16, 1951, in Ephrata, and was the loving wife of Robert Leroy Callihan with whom she spent 65 years of beautiful marriage.

She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in nursing in 1950. Martha worked as a nurse for at Ephrata Community Hospital for a number of years. Martha enjoyed being a homemaker; she loved her children and grandchildren, and she was a loyal member of a card club for many years,

Preceding Martha in death are her two sisters: Marilyn (Smith) and Mildred (Witwer); and a daughter: Valerie Callihan.

Surviving are a son: Douglas R. Callihan (Marci); two grandchildren: Angela Callihan and Matthew D. Callihan (Erin); four step-grandchildren: Peter Williams, Tevis Williams, D.J. Williams and Ronnie Williams; and four great-grandchildren: Hannah, Tiadhg, Bria, and Addison.

Services were held Nov. 14 at Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata. Interment will take place following the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
