Marian M. Bear, 81, Ephrata Schools food services worker, enjoyed playing piano

Marian M. Bear, 81, of Ephrata, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community.

Marian was born in Lititz to Theodore and Naomi (Weidler) Frey on Oct. 2, 1935.

She graduated from Warwick Township High School. Marian married Vernon E. Bear on Aug. 26, 1956 in Penryn.

Marian worked in food service for Ephrata Area School District and Garden Spot Auto Auction for many years. She was a charter member of the Ephrata Lioness Club and a long-time member of Hope United Methodist Church.

Preceding Marian in death were her parents; and two sisters: Reba Fasnacht and Nancy Guyton.

Surviving are her husband: Vernon Bear of Ephrata; daughter: Marcia R., wife of James B. Frisbie, of Lititz; son: Thomas A. Bear of North Hampton, N.H.; and four grandchildren: Bradley J Frisbie of Neffsville; Amy A. Frisbie of Pittsburgh; Kaitlyn Bear, currently of Shenzhen, China; and Carson Bear of North Hampton, N.H. Also surviving is a sister: Peggy Ruhl, wife of Robert, of Lititz.

She enjoyed antiquing and collecting, and playing the piano, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her sisters and her cats.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at Hope United Methodist Church, 3474 Rothsville Road, Ephrata, with Pastor James C. Bongard officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be private for immediate family only.
