Maria Camerino, 94, NY Public School System worker, OMPH member, enjoyed opera

Maria Camerino, 94, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at Brethren Village.

Born in Baselice, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Teresa (Cormano) Paolozza. She was the wife of the late Michael Camerino, with whom she immigrated to New York in 1949.

Maria retired from the New York Public School System where she worked in the school cafeteria for many years. She was a member of the Church of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Ephrata; and loved playing bingo; cooking; working in her garden; and listening to opera music, especially The Three Tenors.

Maria is survived by two sons: Alfred M. Camerino, husband of Eileen, of Yonkers, N.Y.; and Dr. Edward G. Camerino, husband of Yeonok, of Lititz; and three grandchildren: Samantha, Dr. Eugene, and Natalie Camerino.

She was the last of her immediate family, being preceded in death by six siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 30 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata, with Fr. John McLoughlin, CSSR as celebrant. Interment was in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman.
