Margaret McCollough 96, church, Meals on Wheels volunteer, farmland preservation supporter

Margarat McColloughMargaret Shirk Posey McCollough, 96, Lititz, passed away at Moravian Manor Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.

Born in Lancaster, she was the widow of Donald Monroe McCollough who died in 1983. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Silas Robert and Edna Hostetter Shirk Posey.

Margaret graduated from Lititz High School and attended Hood College in Frederick, Md. She and her husband were charter members of Highland Presbyterian Church. She volunteered in various roles within the church. At one time, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Margaret loved playing bridge, collecting shoes and butterflies. She and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the world and trips on the “Lady Margaret” yacht. She was all about fun and had a wonderful sense of humor. Most of all she loved the family farm and was a supporter of farmland preservation.

She is survived by her daughter: Pamela Posey McCollough Haver, Lititz; three granddaughters: Cary Haver, wife of Adam Seery, Fairfax, Va.; Lesley M. McCollough, companion of David Blakely, Tulsa, Okla.; Megan M. McCollough, companion of Phil Bielata, Savannah, Ga. and two great-grandsons: Quinn McCollough Blakely and Knox McCollough Blakely. She was preceded in death by a son: Jay Donald McCollough.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
