Lester M. Brown, 92, WWII vet, worked as printer, 60 year member of Salem Lutheran

Lester M. Brown, 92, of Lititz, passed away April 27, 2014 at Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Columbia.

Born in Hecktown, he was the son of the late Edwin and Eda Roth Brown. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elva Lausch Brown.

A graduate of the Milton Hershey School, Lester served in the European Theatre in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a printer for Wagaman Brothers Printing and retired from H&E Litho Inc., Lititz. In recent years, he worked at Giant, where he enjoyed talking to people while he bagged groceries.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill for over 60 years, where he served on numerous committees. A friendly and outgoing person, Lester enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking.

He is survived by his son: Dennis Brown, husband of Janet, Mount Joy; daughter: Bev Hershey, North Hills, Calif.; grandchildren: Wayne Jamison, Becky Breault, Shelly Keith, and Keith and Jeffrey Hershey; and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Floyd and George Brown.

Family and friends are invited to the Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, 26 Owl Hill Rd., Lititz, on Saturday, May 3 for a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service with the Reverend William A. Martin officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
