Kenneth A. Frederick, 88, U.S. Army counter-intelligence, avid photographer, enjoyed camping

Kenneth A. Frederick, 88, of Lititz, passed away at Moravian Manor Jan. 5, 2015.

Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late Earl and Olive Frederick. He was married for 55 years to the late Ruth Frederick.

A 1944 graduate of Lititz High School, Ken was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany, where he met his wife, who was working for the U.S. Army. During his years in the military, he lived in numerous countries and attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He volunteered for duty in Vietnam and during this time was awarded a Bronze Star. He was working in counter-intelligence in Munich, Germany when he retired from the Army in 1974.

An avid photographer, he enjoyed nature and spent much of his time tending his vegetable garden, hiking, cycling, and camping. During their 24 years of camping and RVing, he and Ruth visited nearly every state in the USA. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a Mason.

He is survived by his daughters: Christine Frederick, Devon; and Linda Goble, San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Adam and Livia; two great- grandchildren; siblings: Morris, James, Russell and Harold Frederick.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Charles, Earl, Richard, and Helen.

Services were held at Steinman Hall at Moravian Manor on Jan. 13. Interment with military honors took place in Millport Cemetery, Lititz.
