June M. Hironimus, 72, was nurse for 43 years, volunteered for V.I.P.S., enjoyed knitting

June M. Hironimus, 72, Lancaster, formerly of Sinking Spring, died Sept. 25, 2014, in Mount Joy Hospice Center.

She was born in Bowmansville, a daughter of the late Melvin E. and Esther M. (Rudy) McCoy. Her husband, Robert Hironimus, died in 1986.

June was a graduate of Gov. Mifflin High School, Shillington; Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing and Millersville University, receiving her master’s degree. Forty-three years of nursing were served with Community General Hospital, Reading; Reading Rehabilitation Hospital; and Wernersville State Hospital. She volunteered with Holy Family Hospice Center, Reading, and was active with Volunteers in Police Service (V.I.P.S.), Lancaster, receiving various service awards. June cherished her granddaughter who called her “NeNe” and enjoyed knitting.

Surviving is her son: Rob W. Hironimus, married to Stephanie (Zelonis), Lititz; granddaughter, Sophia Rose; a sister, Kathy, married to Brian Gustafson, Alburtis; and nieces: Laura and Jennifer.

A brother, Tommy McCoy, predeceased her.

Join the family for a “Time of Sharing” on Friday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. in Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Reamstown. At June’s request there will be no viewing.
