Joy I. Hibshman, 68, Warwick grad, corrections officer, Native American culturalist

Joy I. Hibshman, 68, of Ronks, died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital.

She was born in Lancaster, the daughter of the late William E. and Alberta M. (Suter) Miller.

Joy retired in 2007 as a corrections officer in the Lancaster County Prison. She was a 1965 graduate of Warwick High School. Joy enjoyed Native American culture and was a member of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Joy is survived by a daughter: Crystal Hibshman-Farling of Strasburg; three sons: Mark W. of Irwin; Travis S. of Ephrata; and David E., married to Denise (Baird) Hibshman of Downingtown; seven grandchildren; her sisters: Barbara, married to Larry Griffith of Lancaster; and Renata L., married to Geoff Broome of Columbia; and a brother: William E. Miller III of Salina, Kansas.

She was predeceased by a brother: Kevin C. Miller.

A private family celebration of Joy’s life will be held by the family at a later date.
