Josephine B. ‘Jo’ Good, 90, MCHS grad, Lankenau Hospital lab tech, enjoyed playing duplicate bridge

Josephine B. “Jo” Good, 90, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at Arbor View Willow Valley.

Born in Manheim on May 31, 1927, she was a daughter of the late George and Mabel (Ditzler) Birkenbine. Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Donald Good.

Jo graduated from Manheim Central High School and Northwest Institute of Technology in Minneapolis; she worked as a lab technician at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood. Jo was a member and taught Sunday school at Grace Lutheran Church, and was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

She was also a member of the Iris Club, Hamilton Club, and was a past chairman of the Nine Hole Golf Group at Lancaster Country Club, along with being the president of the Lancaster County Dental Auxiliary. Jo enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, and had earned her Silver Life Masters.

She is survived by two daughters: Susan J. (William) Albertson, and Cynthia K. (Ronald) Schreiner; a sister: Annetta Hershey; grandsons: PJ Schreiner, Dr. Robert Schreiner, Thomas (Cassandra) Albertson, Michael Albertson; a great-grandson: Clay Albertson; and special members of her family: Francis Tyaba and his children, Zachary and Sara.

A memorial service was held Nov. 27 at Grace Lutheran Church, Lancaster, with the Reverend Dr. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating. Interment was in Bird-in-Hand Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
