John F. Brucker Jr., 84, Korea vet, ran Brucker’s Garage, dart champion, wine maker, enjoyed travel

John F. Brucker Jr., 84, of Manheim, passed away at home on Sept. 6, 2017.

Born in Myerstown, he was the son of the late John F. Brucker Sr. and Mary Duffy Brucker.

He was a 1951 graduate of Lebanon High School where he excelled at football and track. He attended Lycoming College before he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he went into business as a self-employed auto mechanic and auto body specialist. He was the operator of Brucker’s Garage in Manheim.

He was a member of Lebanon Elks Lodge 631 and Past Exalted Ruler. He was a member of the American Legion; VFW; Dela-Ches Fishing Association; Germania Band Club of Manheim; and Elstonville Sportsman’s Club, where he led the dart team to several championships. In his retirement he enjoyed wine making; spending time with his family; and traveling, which he did often.

Surviving are two sons: John F. Brucker III and daughter-in-law, Jennifer, of Lebanon; Brian T. Brucker and Lebensgefährtin Jennifer Meinke of Leipzig, Germany; and a granddaughter: Holly Leann Brucker; a brother: Larry Brucker of Sanford, Fla.; sisters: Marie Gingrich of Ephrata, and Susan Loehr of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by his companion: Christine Brady; sister: Ellen Weaver; and brother: Richard Brucker.

A graveside service was held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville on Sept. 13.
