Jacqueline G. Hopton, 79, Bell Telephone operator, enjoyed her retirement at the beach

Jacqueline G. Hopton, 79, formerly of Lititz, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Berlin, Md.

She was the wife of James F. Hopton, who preceded her in death in 2007. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Thelma K. Simmons Carson Jr.

Jacqueline worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. She enjoyed her retirement of 22 years, spending it as a beach resident.

Surviving her are two daughters: Jodi A. (Jerry) Thompson and Debra M. Sullenberger; two stepsons: Joseph and Kenneth Hopton; four grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

Services were held Feb. 1 at Harris Mountain Funeral and Cremation Service, Coatesville. Interment was in Hephzibah Cemetery, Coatesville.
