Hope M. Gainer, 85, Hope’s Daycare owner, Trinity EC member, enjoyed rug hooking

Hope M. Gainer, 85, of Lancaster, died on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Conestoga View with her husband by her side.

Born in Lancaster, Hope was the daughter of the late Thurman and Emma Mutzbough Hoehn. She was the loving wife of Robert A. “Bob” Gainer, and they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in March of this year.

Hope was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Manheim. She graduated from McCaskey High School. Hope was the owner and operator of Hope’s Daycare for 45 years. She enjoyed making hook rugs, collecting Hummel Dolls, and spending time with her beloved family.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Bob, are four sons: David, husband of Jane Gainer, of Lititz; Michael, husband of Kay Gainer, of Clay; Jeffrey, husband of Toni Gainer, of Elizabethtown; Robin, husband of Tina Gainer, of Manheim; a daughter: Kathleen wife of Terry Schrum, of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Betty Lighty, of Florida.

Preceding her in death is a brother: Harry Hoehn; and a great-grandson: Christopher Gainer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Hope’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster.
