Herman E. Kreider, 82, Army vet, Raymark retiree, avid outdoorsman, enjoyed remodeling

Herman E. Kreider, 82, of Manheim, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim.

He was the husband of D. Yvonne (Wright) Clingenpeel Kreider, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this October. Herman was born in Annville on Oct. 19, 1934, to the late Herman K. and Clara Brandt Kreider.

He was a veteran who had served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 in the Signal Corps., stationed in Hawaii. Herman was a seasoned hunter who enjoyed deer hunting both locally and out west; as well as small game hunting on the family farm in Annville. He was also an avid fisherman. Any type of fishing was a favorite pastime, however, trout and freshwater fishing were his passion. He was skilled at fly fishing including tying his own flies.

Herman lived a full life, having lived in Arizona for a time. He was a man with many talents including: remodeling, small engine repair, drawing, and painting in his youth. There were many camping trips to both the mountains and the beach with his family and friends. He retired from Raymark Industries in Manheim, after 35 years of service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Luann, and her husband, William S. Frey, of Mount Joy; stepson: Dale L. Clingenpeel, and his wife, Marci J., of Manheim; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother: Ralph E. Kreider, of Annville; and sisters: Harriet F., and her husband, Neil W. Rhine, of Lebanon; and Ruth K. Payne of Palmyra.

He was preceded in death by his stepdaughters: Colleen R. Bechtel, Linda Bowers; and his siblings: Warren R. Kreider and Ada M. Kreider.

Graveside services were held April 28 at Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
