Harvey M. Hostetter, 94, worked at Lancaster Container, Landis Homes volunteer, friendly and funny

Harvey M. Hostetter, 94, of Lititz, formerly of Manor Township, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, Dec. 29, 2017 at Landis Homes Retirement Community.

He was the husband of the late Mary L. Hollinger Hostetter, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage before she passed away in 2010. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Christian M. and Stella Mowrer Hostetter.

He was self-employed for many years as a poultry and egg farmer. Later he worked at Lancaster Container, Washington Boro, and for Keagy’s Produce Market. Mr. Hostetter was a lifetime member of Habecker Mennonite Church. He and Mary enjoyed volunteering at Teen Missions in Merriott Island, Fla.; the Re-Uzit Shop, Columbia; the Mennonite Home; and Landis Homes. Harvey made friends wherever he was and will be remembered for his friendly spirit and sense of humor.

He will be lovingly missed by his family. He is survived by three daughters: Helen, wife of Glenn C. Hershey, Gordonville; Carolyn, wife of Gerald E. Martin, Ephrata; and Kathy, wife of Douglas W. Mast, Ephrata; a daughter-in-law: LuAnn Hostetter, Mountville; nine grandchildren: Corinne (Mike) Denlinger; Dwayne (Viviana) Hershey; Jason (Kimberlee) Hershey; Tim Hershey; Angie Martin; Darren (Jewel) Martin; Ryan (Carissa) Martin; Gretchen (Jon) Thomas; and Josiah Mast; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters-in-law: Jean Hostetter; Ruth Hollinger; Kay Hollinger; and Lois Hollinger; and a brother-in-law: Willard Stauffer.

He was preceded in death by a son: David E. Hostetter; an infant daughter: Linda Hostetter; siblings: Elizabeth Nissley, Dora Heisey, Miriam Breneman, Esther Myer, and Mary Lefever; and his twin brother: Harold Hostetter.

Services were held Jan. 5 at West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, Lititz. Private interment will be in Habecker Mennonite Cemetery.
