Gladys R. Swarr, Ran Cedar Hill Farm B&B, avid artist, enjoyed spending time with friends, family

Gladys R. Swarr, of Mount Joy, recently of Landis Homes, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Gladys was born and raised on a farm near Strasburg, to the late Earl and Elizabeth Ranck. She married the late Russel Swarr in 1955 and moved to the family farm near Mount Joy.

She was employed by the NCR Corp. for 15 years before starting the Cedar Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast. Gladys enjoyed the many guests who stayed at the farm B&B over the years starting in 1986. She was an avid artist, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and family.

She will be missed by her daughter: Judy Swarr of Bluffton, S.C.; and son: Jeff Swarr, husband of Claire, of Mount Joy; three grandchildren: Adam Swarr, husband of Laura, of Elizabethtown; Lauren Cline, wife of Jonathan, of Mount Joy; and Chad Swarr, husband of Vanessa, of Mount Joy; three great-grandchildren: Kandice Swarr, Daniel Swarr and Ivy Cline; and a sister: Janet Buchen of Manheim.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Jewel Swarr; and two sisters: Alma Rohrer and Marion Rohrer.

A memorial service honoring Gladys’ life will be held at the Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road, Mount Joy, on Friday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604; or Landis Homes Benevolent Fund, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
