Gladys M. Leed Jefferies, 87, Lititz, Amway proprietor, enjoyed canning and candy making

Gladys M. Leed Jefferies, 87, passed away Nov. 30, 2014 at Luther Acres, Lititz.

She was born Sept. 1, 1927 in Lampeter. Gladys married William E. Jefferies in 1948. They were happily married for 56 years.

She worked for Watt & Shand Department Store in Lancaster and was sole proprietor of an Amway business. She enjoyed cooking and canning, candy making, gardening, and crocheting.

Gladys is survived by her daughters: Pamela R. Jefferies of Baltimore, Md.; Gale M. Rankowski (John) of Media; and Lisa M. Jefferies Friday (Barry Hevener) of Lititz; her brother: Frank B. Leed (Geraldine) of New Providence; sisters: Mary Rineer of Willow Street, Betty Hess (David) of Willow Street, and Barbara Aukamp (Paul) of Lancaster; sister-in-law: Phyllis Leed (John) of Strasburg; her grandchildren: Alexandria Brudzinski (Michael), Caitlin Friday, John Rankowski, William Friday, Alan Friday; and her nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents: B. Frank Leed and Myrtle Andrews Leed Lefever; husband: William E. Jefferies; brothers: David, Milton and John Leed; and son: Alan C. Jefferies.

A memorial service was held Dec. 7 at Chapel of the Good Samaritan at Luther Acres, Lititz. Burial was at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
