George L. Smith, 80, worked at Rutt Kitchens, enjoyed fishing, tinkering with cars

George L. Smith, 80, formerly of Lititz, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Keystone Villa.

He was born in Akron to the late Claude and Pearl (Hicks) Smith, and was the husband of the late Lorraine Smith, who passed away in 2013.

George attended Hopeland United Methodist Church, Lititz. During his working years, he worked at Rutt Kitchens. He enjoyed hunting; trout fishing; tinkering with cars, lawn mowers, and radios; and spending time at his cabin in Potter County.

George is survived by five children: Ricky, husband of Diane (Wagaman) Smith. of Denver; Susan, wife of Lew Ditzler. of Ephrata; Karen, wife of Ronald Martin, of Denver; Thomas Smith of Stevens, David Smith of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Virginia Kuhn of Ephrata; and Doris, wife of Jim Mease, of Hopeland.

In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by a sister: Lois Kline; and a brother: C. Robert Smith.

A viewing will be held Saturday, July 23, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Hopeland United Methodist Church, 295 N. Clay Road, Lititz, followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m, with Pastors Russ Eberly and Jeff Snyder officiating.
